A trio of haiku inspired by Ronovan’s weekly word prompt
Vast ocean calling
clear skies, raucous gull-scattered
lead me in your wake.
Dark stars, cold vastness
clear sky with no light shining
swallowed by the night.
Memoryโs vast hall
filled with sighs and soft weeping
regrets clear as day.
I’m not sure if you intended it, but these three feel very connected. I particularly relate to the feeling in the first poem.
It wasn’t intentional, but the three of them came one after the other like triplets, so I suspect the same idea was behind all three.
All good, but especially that last one! Shiver!
A real winter poem, that one ๐
Indeed!
I like especially the first one. And the painting! (K)
Thank you! I’m fond of this detail too. So much drama in such a tiny bit of canvas.
I agree that these all kind of go together. Sadness abounds.
I blame the migraine. And the weather. Thanks for commenting, Pat. I appreciate it ๐
A Nice set Jane:) The last one a little sad. But I love that photo. Nice work.
Thank you! They are all a little melancholy. I’m glad you enjoyed them ๐
All three haiku are interesting. The illustration is beautiful and goes perfect with the poems.
Thank you ๐

Lovely images evoked with these poignant words.
Thank you, Carolyn! And thanks for the reblog too.
Great trio, the last one leaving the future open for the taking!
Thanks, Denis ๐
These were all great, but the second one was my favourite, the dark night swallowing the light. ๐
Thanks Judy ๐
And I thought I got dark. But your darkness is tempered with so much beauty- something I should learn from.
Thank you! Thatโs a beautiful compliment. I think itโs perhaps a mistake to see darkness when we really mean that something touches a chord of sadness. Itโs often just a question of acceptance ๐

All very good but my favourite was the last one..
Thank you! Lots of people seem to prefer the more melancholic haiku ๐

I read this as one haiku. Your images picture the night for me. I love the contrast with the day in the last line. Well done.
Thank you ๐ Day and night, so fundamental. It’s hard to avoid using them in imagery.
