There is beauty in the sorrow,
That fills the silent pool with tears,
And beauty in the lark’s song on the morrow.
There is beauty in the sorrow,
That the lark and blackbird borrow—
When their heartsong quells our fears,
There is beauty in the sorrow,
That fills the silent pool with tears.
Beautiful. Poem and illustration are very Jane-like. 🙂
Thank you! I do like this form 🙂
🙂
Beautiful poem Jane. It does touch our very soul. You have paired the art work and poetry perfectly. Kudos.
Thank you Patricia. The refrain in the triolet emphasises the pathos, i think.
you use lovely paintings Jane….I love them and of course your words add to their beauty…
Thanks Sri 🙂 I do try to match the image to the words. Very occasionally the other way round.
Jane, your paintings and words are re-iterating so I couldnt just stop continuing your post..please do check the link..

I love the poem, and the painting is beautiful too. What a wonderful talent you have 🙂
I can’t claim the painting, Judy. if you click on the image you get the painting’s wiki page with the artist info.
Oh silly me, well the haiku was absolutely perfectly matched to the image 🙂
I post a reminder periodically that when an image is in the public domain the link to the artwork is in the image. If the picture needs a credit I post the credit too. Maybe I should just accept to make all the links obvious.

I think it was just me assuming about the picture, Jane, typical of me not checking things properly! 🙂
I should feel really flattered when people assume I painted the picture too. I don’t though, I feel like a fraud!
Oh no, that is not the way I see it at all. I just think that the images you used are always so well-matched to the haiku.
I take the credit for the choice of image 🙂 It almost always takes longer to find a suitable pic than it does to write the poem!
I can totally understand that as I have the same problem! 🙂
Ah, the creative life…
Lovely and gently moving as birdsong might be
Beauty and sorrow seem linked to me, just as much as to happiness. It’s that melancholy thing again 🙂
