NaPoWriMo: The winding road

An extended triolet.

Franz_von_Stuck_012

The winding road that took you away,

Is the same that will bring you home to me,

Or did it change forever that day?

The winding road that took you away,

Whistling a tune to the queen of the may,

Is the sailor’s road that leads to the sea.

You plucked me a bloom from a red rose tree,

In exchange for a promise to let you be free,

Its petals are scattered like salt sea spray,

On the winding road that took you away.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
