NaPoWriMo: Red cloud

The NaPoWriMo prompt is to write a sonnet. I might have a go later. Here’s a san san instead.

Above the darkened streets, the light

Swells and glows a red cloud veiling,

A river of stars where midnight flows.

Darkened streets where stalks the night,

Beneath a sky with red clouds sailing,

We hang our lamps sharp neon glowing,

That hide the stars where red cloud goes,

Sailing midnight’s river flowing.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. Oh, I’ll just casually toss off a san san, says Jane. 🙂 It’s lovely. I love the midnight river flowing–and the clouds in the photo.
(I’m sure I won’t get to a sonnet today. Author event + big family dinner today! No time for spinning on bikes, only spinning about getting everything ready.)

    1. I’m not sure I’ll do that sonnet either. I somehow don’t like the idea of a ‘mini essay’ or posing a question and answering it. Have fun at your author event and the family gathering 🙂
