This is the photo prompt for this week’s Three Line Tales from Sonya.

“Is this all there is? Just a load of sodding sand?” He stared in dismay at the dunes running like an arid sea to the horizon.
“What did you expect?” she asked wearily. “Polar bears? It’s a desert.”
“Yeah, well, I didn’t expect it to be so sorta monotonous. Giddyup,” he said to the camel, “let’s get this over with.”
But the camel snorted, sank to the ground and arranged itself back to the rising wind, as the first plumes of sand rose along the razor-edge crest of the dune, and the raging orange demon of the desert storm whipped the air into a whining, gritty hell.
Good one! I think the camel had the right idea…wait out the sandstorm! 🙂
I imagined him deciding to walk when the camel wouldn’t get up…
Great read! 🙂
Thank you!
I love the last phrase ” as the first plumes of sand rose along the razor-edge crest of the dune, and the raging orange demon of the desert storm whipped the air into a whining, gritty hell.” Very vivid.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it 🙂
Sounds like he’s screwed. haha
I wouldn’t shed any tears. Hope the camel’s okay though.
Oh, I like this one! (And you are right, he probably decided to walk after kicking the camel a couple of times….and complained bitterly once the camel spit on him)
I see we have the same high opinion of this kind of individual 🙂
Good one. He must have lighted a camel and taken a puff before setting out to walk.
If he’d tried to light this camel he’d have been kicked into orbit—I hope 🙂
😀😀
Never argue with a camel…they are right or wrong, but stubborn either way 🙂 and then you find out they’re smarter!
Love the scene you put together; masterfully crafted!
Thank you 🙂 I don’t understand what draws people to taking floating palace cruise ship holidays, and I strongly disapprove (yes, I am judgemental) of the trips organised into the worlds’s last wild places, just so a select few can take their pics to prove they went there.
I agree with you, in particular those safaris where they disturb the animals to get their photo-op (usually taken very poorly). If you want to get the ultimate shot, spend a couple of months in the wild to get that one moment….
And do it alone without jeeps and guides and the security circus that usually accompanies this kind of tourism.
Smart camel… Good dialogue and I love the images in the last paragraph 🙂
Thanks Sonya 🙂 I’ve always thought that camels must really despise the tourists they have to drag around.
Not so monotonous now.

Hehe 🙂
Uh oh!
I agree with the opinions above about the man. He probably did kick the camel, who hopefully bit him. 😉
Camels know what to do in a sand storm. I’m betting he doesn’t…
Much to his dismay, the camel was in charge. 🙂
Lucky for him, I’d say. Jerk.
