The Daily Post prompt suits my mood today.

So hard to bear the jangling noise

That beats the drum inside the head

And takes away balance and poise.

So hard to bear the jangling noise,

That jumbles thoughts like babiesโ€™ toys

And meshes them like tangled thread.

So hard to bear the jangling noise,

The flashing lights, the taste of dread,

The chaos in sweet orderโ€™s stead.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. That might have been mildly less embarrassing in the seventies when he took it upon himself to come to my school and talk about the benefits of Nuclear …. we were all peace, love and ban the bomb – it was not even remotely cool to have a father talking about fission!

      1. I read somewhere that they (like coffee) can be either triggers of a panacea. I actually don’t eat much chocolate or cheese so i don’t know which they are for me, but coffee is certainly a help.

      2. The caffeine acts as a vasoconstrictor, which I suppose takes some of the pressure out of the headache. I always crave both cheese and chocolate with a migraine, knowing full well they will only make it worse, though there must be something in there I need…

      3. It seems perverse for nature to create a craving for something that’s going to make a problem worse. Unless she’s got it in for you. No, don’t think about it.

      4. There has to be something in them that would help… even if other things wouldn’t. Unless it is just a craving for forbidden fruit ๐Ÿ™‚
