A cascade poem for the Daily Post prompt: False
Nothing’s real beneath the sunlight,
Nothing dances beneath the sea,
But lost illusions, bitter heartache.
The words to soothe cannot be found,
The blackbird’s voice is coarse and raw,
Nothing’s real beneath the sunlight.
Cloud fills the sky and kills the starlight,
No moon, no sun can plumb the depths,
Nothing dances beneath the sea.
No more I see your face at waking,
You stole away and left me nothing,
But lost illusions, bitter heartache.
Sunrise with sea monsters. The link should be in the image.
So it is, thank you! I love his light, and the way he balances on the verge of abstract.
Turner was a tremendous painter. His paintings aren’t atmospheric, they are atmosphere.
I can feel this.
Thanks!
Of course! 😊
The first stanza could stand alone. I like the mix of sea and illusions. It definitely goes with that beautiful Turner painting.
I’m glad you think they go together. When I’d finished the poem I knew exactly which painting I wanted to illustrate it.
Well, it worked! 🙂
