I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. I’m sure I will 🙂

And there you were yesterday saying you were lacking the selling skills; one sale up today at least 😉 (Granted it was free but… it’s a loss leader right 😀 haha)

Today is release day for Devastation, second volume of Jane Dougherty’s Pathfinders series. She is offering free Amazon downloads of Abomination, in case (like me) you have some catching up to do. The book covers look amazing….. I can’t resist the pull of a pretty cover!!

    1. Thanks! It took me a while to warm to the idea of ereaders and since I was a kid I’ve collected books, but a reader does have a practical side. Now that we’re moving again and instead of moving somewhere larger, we’re downsizing by almost half, the problem of several thousand books and what you do with them is raising its ugly head. We’ve given away almost a thousand and it’s made no impression on the book mountain.

      1. I know the feeling. I’ve had it at work (I used to teach) and all my dad’s books — gave away to library, charity, etc. etc. Can you put up a table anywhere that says free books?
That’s what I did with the teaching books in the hallway. We still have books I can’t seem to find the heart to part with.
Nowhere near the amount of books you are dealing with! And I know about downsizing — we now rent a house that is less than 400 sq feet. or something like that. It’s good we moved a lot so had only just acquired a bit of furniture — gave downsizing stuff to local woman’s shelter — maybe they would like books. People often forget that the shelters also help set up women in apartments so they need all sorts of things.
When I realized I wasn’t going to use a lot of my arts and crafts supplies (long story) I gave them to a woman’s shelter that ran an art therapy program. Senior citizen’s homes some times take books for library at facility — especially now with the common rooms of independent living facilities. But you probably already know this.

      2. There are various charities that take books, but we’ve only found one that will actually come and take them away. Without a car, transporting books in any number is out of the question. The books are only a small part of our ‘hoard’. We could furnish a couple of normal-sized houses with the bits and pieces in the cellar and the shed. In fact, the furniture we’ve moved out to the new/old house so we can camp there is stuff I didn’t even know we had!
