Eclipse

A minute poem for the Daily Post prompt: eclipse.

Light breaks and shatters; shadows grow,

Night murmurs low,

Birds hush in fright,

Suspended flight.

Moon interposed stirs ancient fears,

Thousands of years

Of star-gazing,

Gods’ whims blazing.

In awe we watch the day sky dim,

Horizon’s rim,

Uncharted land,

I take your hand.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
