Autumn garden sighs
as leaves settle, red and brown,
crisped dry like the tears
barring my face, farewell smears
you will never wipe away.

Jane we don’t have fall colors in this part of the world…But, this colorful season has impact on my posts too…I wrote a lot on autumn these days…if free please check my blog…
I will do 🙂
So sweet of you Jane
Love the autumn leaves, lovely poem to express this much admired season. 🙂
Thank you Marje 🙂
Perhaps I’ll take a “tanka break” later today if I get some work done. It will be like dessert. 🙂
I hope you do 🙂 It’s ages since I wrote any and I’m enjoying it.
Beautiful tanka. Are you saying goodbye to summer or to a departing love? I love autumn. The fallen leaves, cooler days, apple cider, pumpkin pie, the warmth of the hearth fire – all speak of the season.
Thanks Michelle 🙂 It’s a metaphor for goodbyes in general, lovers, seasons, good times.
Thanks for the invite here is my Tanka Poem. https://ramblingsofawriter2016.com/2016/10/20/autumn-tanka/
