Autumn garden sighs

as leaves settle, red and brown,

crisped dry like the tears

barring my face, farewell smears

you will never wipe away.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. Jane we don’t have fall colors in this part of the world…But, this colorful season has impact on my posts too…I wrote a lot on autumn these days…if free please check my blog…

  2. Beautiful tanka. Are you saying goodbye to summer or to a departing love? I love autumn. The fallen leaves, cooler days, apple cider, pumpkin pie, the warmth of the hearth fire – all speak of the season.
