Brief lives

For the Secret Keeper’s weekly writing prompt. This week’s words are:

STAGE | SHORT | YOUNG | TEST | LIVE

The play, so short, of our brief lives,

Our young day ends when scarce begun,

But the dark night lasts forever.

Upon the stage we strut and pace,

In the wings the curtain waits,

The play, so short, of our brief lives.

The morning grows and fills the sky,

And deepens into sunset’s glow,

Our young day ends when scarce begun.

A trial, the evening steps that drag,

The day grows weary, light too bright,

But the dark night lasts forever.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
