A Serpent’s Tail poem for the Daily Post prompt: aware.

All senses aware,

hare in the long grass lies,

eyes, hazel brown search

birch and oak in fear.

Deer melt,

svelte and quick into the shade

made for hiding.

Riding their horses, hunters come,

drumming hooves, hounds bay.

Away darts the fox, quick,

slick and sleek, among the trees.

Please take your death elsewhere,

hare whispers in the grasses tall,

all senses aware.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
