Ivan Bilibin was a Russian illustrator, especially of folk tales, whose work is beautiful. Russian folk tales can be pretty odd. This must have been one of them. When you work out what’s going on, write me a story, please.

Hi Jane! Intriguing! I’ve had a go
You were quick!
Rainy day, boat work done, dinner over, time to ponder and peruse!
If time hangs heavy there’s a fantastic back story there for you to get your teeth into…
hm……….
Go on. You know you’re tempted ๐
hmmm. need to look up some Russian folklore!
That’s what the internet’s for.
I’m on it……………
Like a true writer ๐
Ha! Let’s see what I come up with first!
Stop fishing.
Got it: Ballet!
Wow–this is a strange one. . .but intriguing. ๐
I can’t imagine what the story behind it is. They probably don’t write children’s stories like that anymore.
Yes, it’s hard to imagine this as a sweet bed-time tale. ๐
In most normal households…
๐
GREAT choice! I love his work so much!
I picked this one for its oddity, but so much of his work is just absolutely beautiful.
Oddity can be the best though right?
Certainly makes you think about it.
Great image to write to Jane…
I see you really got your teeth into this one ๐
Not only that Jane, I had fun doing it..
Skulls! well I’m sure I can come up with something…(K)
You must have some cuttings from the Daily Necrophile about you ๐
Perhaps one of the strangest bedtimes stories ever . . .
No wonder some kids are so disturbed.
Does explain a lot!
Thanks for again one more intriguing photo prompt…brainstorming going on…soon going to write s’thing….
Make it as strange as you like.
Will try with my best effort
Muito lindo!
Obrigado!
I’m really sorry, it’s not micro at all. In fact, it’s rather macro. But I think you’ll find it explains the picture pretty accurately.
Having grown up with grandparent’s who were undertakers the picture reminded me of their home with the black iron fence posts which could have easily have held skulls.
Inspired by a recent internet outage.
Here’s mine. ๐ https://merrildsmith.wordpress.com/2017/03/04/the-skulls-microfiction/
