  1. I downloaded Tales from the Northlands on KU last night and the first story certainly grabbed me. I have a friend who is deathly afraid of escalators!

    1. Thanks! There was a very famous department store in Paris that had kept a lot of the original nineteenth century stuff like the pneumatic things that whizzed bills and cash through overhead pipes, and these rickety wooden escalators that clanked along with a terrible din. They fascinated me. Glad you enjoyed the story.
