Tanka: Fire & Rain

This is for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday challenge. A good word choice for this changeable time of year.

Winter sky afire,

sun blazing, a funeral ship—

morning comes, ash grey.

Blaze holds back the bitter cold,

still I long for soft spring rain.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. Different types of climate make people scream, “I’m so sick of this weather!” My sister loves bright sunlight and living in the desert sith A/C. I like Florida when it’s experiencing a dark overcast. She once asked if I was adopted. 🙂

      2. Hard to know. Haven’t been close enough to see what’s in one of their ships. At 21, I camped out at Nags Head in N.C. and watched some sort of craft stop in mid air, turn, and do the same thing again.

I’m still trying to figure out if I’m going to be sending a check with the taxing return this year. Not sure I want my imagination to soar out into a galaxy where you have to pay country, world and galactic taxes. Or if we’re a zoo for other planets to laugh at. 🙂

      3. I’ve seen space ships too, and ghostly emanations, but I’ve never been abducted. I don’t think. The idea that we might be somebody’s zoo is one to think about.
