Winter grief

This tanka is for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday. The prompt is

Laugh & Cry.

On a sudden, green

clothes the trees in bright laughter—

careless bird chatter.

Beneath my feet, dark earth stirs,

wild tangles hide winter grief.

  1. Jane, what an excellent take on the prompt words. I really love how you brought out the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Glorious! ❤
