A cascade poem for Paul’s dverse prompt—community. Maybe slightly off prompt, but it’s what came to mind.
Did I say I needed more than this,
Than your strong arms to hold me through the night
Than your heart’s pulse that beats in time with mine?
Did I say I wanted piles of gold,
Or palaces and easy summer days?
Did I say I needed more than this?
The moon and stars that light the darkest hours,
Too far their fire, I need no other warmth,
Than your strong arms to hold me through the night.
Of all the treasures heaped in earth’s broad lap,
None makes my blood leap more with purest joy,
Than your heart’s pulse that beats in time with mine.
Just beautiful :))
Thank you, Janice 🙂 I think this one rolled out well.
It did :))
Whatever anyone writes tonight is a part of this community’s offering ( see what I did there?) so bravo madame. It is a delightful write and someone would love to have that read to them I’m sure.
I might do that, if he plays his cards right 🙂
A heart’s pulse and arms should be all one needs.
And yet so many people don’t have that.
One man–one woman–two imperfect beings who can only approach perfection mated & mingled as one, each filling in the gaps for the other. Decades of marriage & grandchildren are testament to how two people can whelp a village.
That sounds about right 🙂
Oh–sigh and swoon! Lovely, Jane!
Thanks you!
🙂
Oh good Lordy! What a treasure!!!
I’m glad you like this, Damien. It’s a cascade that worked. They don’t always 🙂
Hearts beating in time and moon and stars lighting the night … now THERE’S a community everyone will want to join!
Everyone with any sense!
Lovely – who could want for more?
Anna :o]
I know what’s most important for me 🙂
I love this. And I think it suits the prompt quite well. Some of us don’t need so many people around. 😉
That’s how it struck me too. Since we were first together in our early twenties, friends were telling us we were too exclusive, it was unhealthy and we’d come a cropper. Wrong!
Lovely, Jane! ‘Tis a wonderful thing to have a soul mate.
I wonder if people who don’t, see things the same way. I know life would be much greyer for me if I didn’t have the one I’m lucky enough to have 🙂
I know that life was flat with mostly grey tones before my husband and I found each other.
I’m so pleased you see in colour now 🙂
Sweetly romantic Jane ~ Some people are lucky to find that special someone ~
Probably fewer than we think.
The richness of sharing your life and heart with someone really flows in this. Wonderfully written.
Thank you! It helps when it comes from the heart 🙂
That’s all some of us need, Jane, a community of two 🙂
So much better if the hearts beat in harmony.
Sigh.
I agree with Bjorn – life with the right person can be blissful and complete.
The hard part is finding that person 🙂
Another bewitchingly inspiring piece from your arsenal of forms!
Thank you Colin 🙂 The cascade is a particularly good form, I think.
A form in good hands, I would say.
🙂 They don’t always work out as well as this one.
