This started off as a quadrille, but the giver of good advice wouldn’t shut up.
Painting ©Tania Marmolejo
After the brilliance
of the dalliance,
comes the confusion
of the disillusion,
the hideaway in seclusion
to find a suitable conclusion.
I sympathise with your situation,
the humiliation
after the realisation
that when we told you he was a blight,
we were right.
Where did you put your common sense?
Too dense
or incensed with passion to see?
Heez no good,
a dud,
a clapped-out stud,
who never could.
So please stop whining
and pining,
that loser was excruciating,
you should be celebrating.
Just go find yourself a man
who can.
I suddenly feel like I should go to open mike night and rap this.
Ha ha! Rap away. I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right, it is sort of rappy 🙂
I really enjoyed this! Both the rhythm and rhyme of it and also the story it tells. Nicely done!
Thank you! I’m still not sure what inspired it!
Wow! Very rich words and inspiring!
I don’t usually write fun poems, but I enjoyed this one 🙂
It’s very enjoyable. I like to write fun poems. Sometimes when there’s no strong emotion for me to express, I like to do some narrative style or just normal fun poems.
It’s good to be multi-functional 🙂
Beat box it Jane!! 🎤🎵🎶
I might try this again, but intentionally next time 🙂
Now your on to something 😜
I’ve written a couple more already 🙂
I beat box all day every day…🎤
I’m not sure I could keep up with that 🙂
Lol!
It was fun. I’m glad to see you don’t know what inspired it. 🙂
I haven’t given that kind of advice in years 🙂
🙂
This is brilliant! It should be posted in advice columns everywhere. This poem says it all.
I honestly don’t know how this poem came about, but once it started it turned into a rant!
Amazing poem !!!!!!!
Thank you! Glad you like it 🙂
