Continuing with Jilly’s August challenge and the last of the Jim Harrison quotes.
“Why does the mind compose this music well before the words occur?β
Children of the stars, we,
drops of glittering light
that grew and grew in the holy dark,
rocked by the lilting song of the spheres,
washed by salty seas
in the pulsing tides of the heart.
Sprung, a fish-leap,
from quiet ocean in a fountain of mirth,
we swim in enfolding arms,
listening to the music of beyond,
until our bleary eyes focus on the dreaming sky,
and we learn to reach for the stars.
Love this, Jane. It’s like what I think–in Jane language. π
That’s another wonderful quotation, too.
And Cassatt painting.
Thanks Merril π There is so much around us to inspire.
I love the thought that we are children of the stars. And a beautiful response to the quotation. (K)
Thank you, Kerfe π
This is beautifully written, Jane.
Thank you, Robbie π
Reblogged this on Die Erste Eslarner Zeitung – Aus und ΓΌber Eslarn, sowie die bayerisch-tschechische Region!.

Yes, “children of the stars” is wonderful, it expresses there is no end in this world.
We are part of the same substance as the universe.
Yes, but some people think they are not. LOL π
Some people are delusional π
You have such a gift for bringing a poem full circle; I really admire that!
π I think in circles. That could explain why I never get anywhere.
Ha!
Beautifully expressed, Jane.
Thank you, Betty π
You make this look so easy. You should have a poet’s nickname. Like years ago someone gave Eric C. the nickname “Slowhand” because he looked so effortless as he played guitar. …maybe “Lighthand.” No. I’ll keep on it!
Not Light-fingered I hope π
My Lord, I did not ‘appen to observe the dye-fendant purloining any portions of known poe-ography. (Or something like that….) π
I can hear Dick Van Dyke… Please, no! Stop it!
Dang, and I was shooting for Long John Baldry!
Can’t say I know the gentleman. Pirate? I remember being excruciated by DVE in Mary Poppins though.
British blurs singer.
Blurs singer?
Sorry… blues singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj_lZ4hkJd8
Hmmm. Can’t say I’m sorry I missed that one π
Ah, one person’s poison… π
π
I don’t find it hard, but that’s probably why it isn’t good poetry. There ought to be more thought behind it, but the fact that there isn’t speaks volumes.
