I’m just tossing this one out as something to give you creative people something to think about over the weekend. This very strange painting by Hugo Simberg has been sitting on my computer for weeks waiting for me to use it for something. I’d be interested to see if it inspires any freakish writing. I keep looking at in and wondering what on earth is going on. What do you think?
If you feel moved to explain the owls, the ghostly smoke figures and the characters running/falling down the hill, please let me know by leaving a link to your story in the comments box.
I see them doing yoga. I guess this an owl world so they only come out at night to exercise 😉
Yoga!! I’d never have imagined that! But why not?
Well the two on the Hill… lol
One of them looks more in need of a hip replacement than yoga 🙂
😂 very true
🙂
Working on it Jane!
Oh good! I haven’t started anything yet. It needs a lot of study…
Just posted. What do you think
I think you’re all mushroom chewing hippies at heart!
Hubs was accused of being a hippy whilst listening to a rather loud Eurovision CD in the car in 2004! As for magic mushrooms or wacky baccy, not my thing!
I’d never dare. My imagination is wild enough without chemical encouragement 🙂
Never interested me to try.
I had my hands full coping with people who saw things jumping off the mantelpiece at them or dropping off the ceiling. Somebody had to have a level head 🙂
🙂
The owls are notorious opium consumers, which makes the two men their vision, pretty much as “Kubla Khan” came to Coleridge during an opium dream.
That would certainly explain the smoke and the way their gaze seems to be wandering.
Exactly.

Someone else who sees the owls as dope heads! I’d rather trust a dope head owl than certain heads of state who will remain nameless.
Ha ha ha! May be all one and the same. You saw one did not show his face!!
True. He’s really away with the fairies that one 🙂
Any good Jane?

I love this picture. Maybe I will have to try to write something for it this weekend. Thanks for sharing! 😀
My pleasure! I hope you do give it a go. I don’t know what it’s meant to be, but there are endless possibilities 🙂
Endless possibilities are the best possibilities.
🙂
Thanks Jane for throwing this one out for me to have a go at

My pleasure, Michael. I felt this painting needed a story.
A bit of silliness. Thank you Jane. I needed it. Have a great weekend! -kat

It’s hard to take this painting entirely seriously. Have a good weekend 🙂
Reblogged this on Die Erste Eslarner Zeitung – Aus und über Eslarn, sowie die bayerisch-tschechische Region!.
🙂
You know, I was just looking at some of my old postcard fiction and thinking I should come up with my own prompts and do more. It may take me a few days, but this definitely inspires…(K)
I think we’d enjoy your prompts. There’s always so much going on in your images.
Absorbing picture that looks like it was influenced by the subject of my little story at https://bobfairfield.org
