I’m going to post a lot today because it’s my birthday and I’ll post if I want to. First up, a couple of cold, cold haiku for Frank Tassone’s challenge, one I never seem to see.
First snow settles on
evergreen, everdark firs—
white colder than black.
In the dim dark woods,
first snow, cold ghost drifts, whisper,
pure white, nevergreen.
Happy Birthday – it’s mine today as well!
Happy Birthday, Diane! I’ll raise a glass shortly.
Happy Birthdayyy! Did you have fun and get a lot of snow, like we did in Holland?
No snow, thank you very much! And let’s keep it that way, shall we? It’s cold enough for me at 10°C 🙂
Lucky you, that’s 10′ hotter than it is here, and Code Red for traffic: 😦
If only that wasn’t the indoor temperature too…
Happy Birthday, Jane!!!!!
Post away:)
Thank you, Jilly 🙂 It’s going to be a lucky day for sending off literary subs too…I hope!
Happy birthday! Be sure to keep warm in the midst of all that cold!
I’m using my imagination here. We get about an eggcup full of snow every six years or so. Mind you, it’s about due…
I keep forgetting you’re in France!
They’ve had -15° in parts of eastern France…
Can’t imagine it!
Even imagining it can give you frost bite!
Sun’s pouring outside – so, no, I don’t think I’m due for frost bite! 🙂
Despite the monkeys, you’re in quite an enviable place 🙂
I am, indeed I am.
Just so long as you appreciate it 🙂
I do. A lot!
🙂
… and I must still write about the monkeys! Haven’t forgotten.
Nor have I 🙂
Ha-ha-ha! Perhaps the inspiration I needed. It’s quite the story and I want to tell it well and have been somewhat down in the dumps.
…and many happy returns.
So, do you have first snow already?
Thank you! No, no snow thank goodness, but I remember well what the awful stuff looks like 🙂
I’m not much of a fan myself.
So, what are you up to today birthday girl?
All work no fun? Ah wait, you are having fun while working? Anything else on your mind?
Today, the main projects are keeping warm, admiring the sunshine, eating some of the stuff from the freezer before it goes off (the fridge has stopped working, too cold in the kitchen) and doing lots of writing. Not too bad.
In that case, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Ta. It’s gone.
Happy Birthday! And yes, “white colder than black”. (K)
Thank you 🙂 It isn’t even really cold today and there’s plenty of sunshine, but the cold has already seeped into my blood and it may as well be snowing.
Happy Birthday, Jane! (Mine is later this week.)
Hope you have a wonderful day.
I may have to catch up with your posts later, as I will be indisposed for most of the day.
Your haiku fit how it looks here right now.
Happy Birthday Two Ewes 🐑 🐑 … have a wonderful snow-free day and take all the love that is offered x
Thank you for the sheep wishes 🙂 Love and a bit of sunshine will set me up nicely 🙂
Happy birthday!!!
Thank you, Shawna 🙂
Reblogged this on Frank J. Tassone and commented:

My pleasure, Jane! And happy belated birthday!
Thank you!
You’re welcome! 🙂
🙂
I like that last line…”pure white, nevergreen”
Happy B’day, Jane!
Thanks, Ken 🙂 I’m pleased to say all we’ve had today is rain.
I love hatsu yuki. I have done quite a few haiku about it. Very special time.
Happy birthday and many more!
Thanks Claudia 🙂
I apologize for my late wishes. Happy Birthday to You.
That’s very kind of you. Wishes graciously accepted 🙂
