I couldn’t resist taking another piece of fake news and giving the true story. If you’ve ever had doubts about the ethics of taking sides with a sneak thief, you might like this ‘original’ version.

If you like it, don’t hesitate to push the blue button.
Loved this Jane. No FB, so I’ve ‘liked’ here.
Thanks! The morality of some fairy tales is obscure, to say the least.
Sometimes I like alternatives. Actually, some of the story is what I remembered as a child.
The version I remember has Jack climbing the beanstalk to steal various precious objects from the giant, and when the giant follows him to try and get his property back, Jack chops down the beanstalk, the giant breaks his neck in the fall and we all cheer. Mad.
As kids we didn’t mind people getting eaten by giants or having their heads chopped off. Jack was a lazy boy and opportunist.
I don’t think we’d have minded if the heroes also got eaten or hacked to bits either ๐
haha! a neat bit of realism never hurt anyone!
๐
Love your version of this tale, one might say elements of it ring true…
Thank you ๐ I’ve never understood why theft by trickery was something we ought to praise.
An unpleasant trait that masquerades as roguish and loveable behaviour, the “everyman” fighting against ‘injustices’ meted out by by the system. The truth isn’t so black and white. Fairy tales are multilayered and facetted entities you could explore to your heart’s content…โบ
They are! If we could understand all the layers, we might be able to understand how people’s minds worked three or four hundred years ago.
Oh for a time machine…
๐
Nothing but praise for this story. It’s flawless.
Thank you! I think I might have a go at dismembering Cinderella next ๐
Laugh! Looking forward! Tinkerbell should have a go too!
Peter Pan is one of the creepiest stories around. It pushes all the wrong buttons!
JM Barrie was quite the observer of humanity!
He was certainly a strange cove!
