Cherita for Finbar

The op is over, he’s back, complete with lampshade to stop him pulling out the stitches. This is going to be a long ten days.

He tail-wags over,

dances around me, dog-dervish,

silent and intent,

operation over, stitched up,

jabbed full of antibiotics,

We go home now?

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. My love and hearty congrats to Finbar! Should have added a picture of Finbar! He would always put a smile on my face 🙂

      1. It looks tremendous. Unfortunately I need it now. I wonder if Finbar might object to not being able to see through it though. He has enough trouble with the clear plastic one.

      1. I can’t see this ruff thing holding out for so long. He’s always pulled his own stitches out before, I suppose he’s telling himself, he’s perfectly capable of dealing with these too…

    1. I’ve just taken him outside for a last pee before bed. While he was peeing, I noticed a large dark lump the size of a large cat in the grass a couple of yards away. Finbar finished peeing and the lump moved, then raced off down to the stream. I’ve no idea what it was (cats don’t stay out at night round these parts) but I had a large hound with a lampshade obstructing his line of vision, rearing like a mustang round and round in circles trying to get after it. I’m all shook up 🙂

      1. We were, thanks. Finbar hadn’t stirred from under his blankets when I went to check up on him at 4, but when husband got up shortly after six he was curled up asleep on the doormat… As they say over here, don’t even try to understand…
