Dreaming of gulls

For the NaPoWriMo prompt—the meaning of dreams.

NellsGull

Waves rise and call

to the sky that falls

in cascades.

I call to the falling sky

that cascades in waves,

falling like the bitter dull

ache where my heart was.

I call and peer

through the relentless,

cascading waves

after the white-winged hope,

receding,

and the sky falls

in bitter tears

and salt sea spray.

  1. Somehow I knew I would find seagulls here in answer to this prompt. Interestingly, there are many seagulls in my new neighborhood, and there were none in the old one. They certainly make their presence known! (K)

      1. Birds seem to like the underground. I sometimes see sparrows on the platforms, too, although I’ve never seen one take a ride.

  2. A dream of seeking….
    “I call and peer
    through the relentless,
    cascading waves
    after the white-winged hope,
    receding,”
    only to end in desolation.
Jane, just a wonderful post to today’s prompt!

  3. I’m trying to catch up, so I’m just seeing this from yesterday. But more on the same wavelength stuff, I was at the beach and watch and heard lots of gulls.
I’m chuckling over the thread between you and Kerfe. 🙂
