Tanka: Late cherry blossom

First thoughts for Frank Tassone’s Haikai challenge.

so much green

across the sky—black boughs clad

white blossom hid

sun lingers longer now

than this blossom than you

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. At least the blossom is staggered. When the cherry finishes the plum comes out, then the hawthorn, then the dog wood and the apple. There’s quite a variety as long as the weather holds.

    1. It doesn’t last long. All the blossom has finished here and the plums are already the size of cherries. First roses have already fallen. Spring goes by so fast!
