Front page

For the Secret Keeper’s weekly challenge. The words are

It makes front page

The spree of a kid with a gun

It makes front page

When just for once he’s centre stage

With warped ideas of harmful fun

Random revenge for vague wrongs done

It makes front page.

  1. Yes the word kid is a young person , I suspect it conjures up a rather boisterous masculine figure , not quite a person. In the past it was regarded as slang and to use it for a child ( how respectable ) was considered rather insulting. I wonder if it is associated with young devil- may-care cowboys , sort of gunslinger types ? You had no choice child is far too innocent to pair with gun unless the child is getting shot.

    1. Yes, child has connotations of young innocence and fragility. Kid can be older, rougher, wilder or simply more independent. I don’t think it’s ever taken in a pejorative sense, just familiar.
