Daily poem 42: Hush

Silence?

No cars, no human voices,

twitter of music, machinery drone;

in this air, vibrating with bee and birdsong,

the only silence

is the hush of death.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. I dunno Jane, sometimes I think we can find an essence of life in the quiet parts, in the silence. Way past even the quietest buzz or squeek, there’s a feeling of life that keeps us connected to each other, and to ourselves.

    1. Maybe. It’s like one of those visual illusions—is it a hill or a hole? I hear the connection in the tiny buzzing and chirupping sounds, you hear it in the spaces between. Same difference I suppose 🙂
