Always a reason

Done my 2000 words, time for a break. This is for Jilly’s days of unreason challenge.

“I took a nap and wept for no reason”

~ Jim Harrison from Songs of Unreason

Sun in the wind,

wind in the sunlight,

and thrush and nightingale sing duets.

Sun and soft rain,

water running, overflowing ditches

lush and plush as mole fur

and hush pale as gull-grey clouds.

Sunlight and shine,

quiet fills with honey

and the scent of wild roses,

yet look, not far,

listen close—

there is always a reason to weep.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. Such a lovely flow to this and the words, the sibilance–it’s like a rain or a river.
And then the last line is a punch, or an overturned boat–but true.

      1. I was trying to get work done today because I have a few busy days coming up–maybe I’ll try to get a bit more done now before dinner. 🙂
