The oppressiveness of those heavy summer days…(K)
We complain about the cold, the wet, and now the heat…
The complaint department is always open.
Never closes round here.
Jane, I love the sound of this poem… very pleasing. “…earth gathers heat drops like rain-parched mouths…” This is luscious. Wonderful imagery! 😀 ❤
Thank you! We’ve gone from rivers of rainwater to parched, cracked earth and harvesting in the space of a few weeks. Mad how the seasons turn so quickly.
I agree. We were in the 40’s F. at night only a few days ago. Now, in the high 90’s F. during the day. Hot and dry winds are blowing. ❤
Baking here now.
Here too. I’m miserable… LOL! 😀
Like me. LOL!
Exactly. I’m a cold weather girl. 😀
🙂
Great use of the prompt. I’m laughing over the comments. We’re going to have temperatures in the 90s with high humidity for the next week or so. I want the beautiful days we had earlier in the week back–but I’m thankful that we do have a/c.
We don’t have a/c but we do have windows with shutters and the house is starting from about 20° below normal temperatures so it’s pleasantly hot indoors. Humid is horrid. I hope it blows away for you again 🙂
No matter the weather, it seems we are always complaining about it. Love your tanka.
Thanks Michelle. It’s never just right, is it?
Lovely capture of summer, Jane.
Thank you, Diana 🙂
