Vita Brevis Haiku challenge

I wrote a few haiku and decided on this one mainly because it’s a standard size (5/7/5) and it has all the twiddly bits, kigo and whatnot.

If you’d like to enter a haiku, here’s the place to do it.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. I have 50-60 ft. trees within 20 feet of my house, on three sides. Of course, the one open side is in the wrong direction, and that open area (a cul-de-sac) has too much incidental light. The damn ticks and mosquitoes are so prevalent in this area that going out at night in open fields is a challenge. I, know – excuses! 😦

      2. I cheated. After a couple of nights being bombarded by rhinoceros beetles I watched from indoors. I don’t mind mosquitoes, but I hate those huge beetles.
