A fool and a cage

I started and discarded several poems this morning because I didn’t think I was listening properly. I changed word sets and got this. It’s very enigmatic, and it made me feel sad.

I listen for the words

that will open the secret of love,

breathe joy into this broken steel cage,

give it the wings to fly.

Those thoughtless words

haunt me yet.

Only a fool would desire

a life without you.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. Gave up counting long time back. Now that China is relaxing norms from one to three kid family and go forth and multiply seems to get more steam, do not see any point of keeping track.

    1. Perhaps we can still sit in a prison even when the door is open, tied by habit and fear of going outside. Words and wings are strong enough if we believe in them. Thanks Balroop 🙂
