Three Line Tales: Go fetch!

This three line story is for Sonya’s Three Line Tales prompt.

They were coming for Rex; the sheep had been one crime too many, and they would show him no mercy.

The chickens had been bad enough, and she could see Mary Halpenny up there at the front brandishing her old man’s air rifle.

She forced a smile as she tossed the ball over the cliff and, through a blur of tears, watched Rex bound after it.

      1. The book is much better. Much better. And the author’s an interesting character, also. There was a lot that reminded me of my growing up, although it’s set a generation or two earlier and in a different section of the south.

      2. Not something you notice when you’re a kid, and not American. My mum always said she thought my dad looked very like Gregory Peck. He did, same colouring and similar smile. I always think of her rather than my dad, what she saw in him.
