Bird dance

Another poem inspired by the Secret Keeper’s five word prompt.

RAP | STONE | MARK | BAR | GROUND

Woodpecker insect-raps

dead wood tapping.

Turnstone turns pebble stones

where eelworms pile their castles

in the sand.

Ground, sky,

tidal sand ripples

are marked with bird stripes

and prickle-toed prints,

and between the trees

with wing bars blazing.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
