Pas de loup

Pour lesfaitsplume

Ici i’y a pas de loup

mais le renard passe

et il passe

et les faisans gueulent

et les lapaings se taisent

au fond de leur trou.

Le renard s’efface

quand le chasseur passe

et il passe a pas de loup

mais le loup

n’a que ses dents

pour croquer doux.

Quand Darth Vadar

bedonnant passe

le monde tremble

au fond de son trou.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. I decided there wouldn’t be any point, since the original point was the play on ‘pas de loup’ which doesn’t give anything like a play on words in English that I can think of.

    1. Well…not really. This is an adaptation.

      No stealthy wolf prowls here
      but the fox trots
      and when he trots
      the pheasant crows
      and the silent rabbit trembles
in the back of its burrow.
      The fox hides
      when the hunter strides,
for the wolf has only jaws
      to deal sweet death
      but Hunter Darth Vadar,
      moon-bellied, holds death,
sharp as stars, in his hands,
      and when he shoots,
the world in its black hole
      trembles and howls.

      1. LOL! I used Google translate and knew it wasn’t about Darth Vader, I was just trolling you because I’m evil, sorry. I’m happy I got a Jane Dougherty translation out of it ❤

    1. La langue française est faite pour la poésie—à manipuler avec précaution par les non-francophones. Je suis ravie que ce petit poème vous a plu, et d’accord pour les couleurs de lesfaitsplumes!
