A first solstice tanka for Frank Tassone’s haikai prompt. I’m sure there will be more.
world holds its breath
plunging deeper into dark
sky water the moon
full-bellied as new year rolls
growing richer bringing spring

Beautiful 💜 and full of hope 💜
The moon will keep turning, even when we’ve wrecked her planet.
Yes she will 💜
Good old moon 🙂
Yes indeed 💜
🙂
I liked your full-bellied moon
Thanks Dwight 🙂
I really like the way you have woven the upcoming full moon and the solstice into a blessing for the coming year.
Thanks Suzanne. I’ve begun to realise (better late than never) that life doesn’t stop because it’s cold. The new grass is growing, next year’s buds are already on the boughs, and the hinds are pregnant with next spring’s crop of babies. Another reason why I hate seeing them killed. Nature never stops. There’s always something in gestation.
Yes, I’ve been tuning into winter more as I get older too. I love the wildness of it.
I just wish it wasn’t so cold.
Ditto!
🙂
I love that first line. Yes, to what replied to Suzanne.
Everything is growing! It’s so lush beneath the dead leaves.
