Owl cherita haibun

Night sky is a broken river of diamonds.

East wind rattles branches,

and I think I hear the stars lament.

Moon is glowing, growing,

but soon the dark will shrink

and winter fade, a frozen memory.

Bring back the light, owl

when you fly great feathered moth

to the night’s confines.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
