Too cold

Winter is always too cold

for those with bones too close to the skin

and blood too deep in the bone.

Steep me in the warm earth

deep as shoot and seed

feathered with owls calling

from tree to star and back again

for the restless spring.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

Thank you so much for talking about spring. Your comment and the sun, both arrived at the same time. Time to go outside to get some warmth.

      2. I snowed on the hills around us overnight. Won’t stay for long, may be a couple of days. Sun playing hide and seek fro morning with rain and drizzle.

      1. As we are doing some work on the house, the whole ground floor looks like a war zone and we can’t run the heater. So I am all bundled up, wearing jackets and hat inside the house.

      1. Even if you have a solid warm house, and you don’t have to go outside; and you can afford the fuel bill it must be atrocious. What about poor people, people who walk to work, animals, birds? Do they just die?
