Swallowtails butterfly
among grass stalks
winged meadow-weaving
sky’s aflutter
with sleek-feathered birds
shrill darts
blue
white-bellied
cloud-stitching
sky to meadow
with wing and needle tails
essence of blue and gold
sun and skyborn.

How lovely
They are 🙂
Brilliant.
This is the most lovely time of year with works of art free and flying all around us
That’s so true 🙂 I wish we’d get more sun though. The works of art must miss it as much as we do.
Love the weaving, Jane, plus perfect pics! 🙂

Thank you! We’ve had so little sun this early summer that when we get a few hours of it, nature just dances 🙂
Central Texas is like that here too with rain, the birds sing and flower spring into view — hope it extends into the summer for you! 🙂
More rain today 😦 then a heat wave for three days before dropping again, storms, rain etc etc.
Weather’s been weird all over I think! We had a couple unusually coolish days and now are heading back into the heat. Summer is not my fav season here in Austin, lol! 🙂 Hope ya’ll get good rain & no bad storms, Jane 🙂
It usually happens that spring is over in a flash, a few weeks of getting used to it not being winter and suddenly everything is in flower and beginning to wilt in the heat. We’ve had plenty of spring this year 🙂
Wings weaving the world…wonderful. (K)
I wonder if they know?
That’s a lovely thought.
If they do, they don’t flaunt it.
Gorgeous poem for the beautiful and fascinating swallowtail.
Thanks Michelle 🙂 They are magnificent butterflies.
