For Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday, a tanka (not) using the words Plan & Spend. I’ve used map and pass.

no time that passes

eyes fixed upon heaven’s map

or downcast to read

ancient words will change the fact

that only stars crowd the sky

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. The gogyohka is a five liner, not a piece of prose with tanka or haiku attached to it, so it’s useful when you want to write a short poem, but don’t want to shoehorn it into the syllable restriction of the tanka, or the thing about the last three lines having to read like a complete poem.
