basket of sound fruit

wild plums

purple red and yellow

spoilt fruit wasp-sweet

oozes in the sun


‘The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones.’


demagogue silver-tongued Antony

swayed the crowd


his silver star of luck

sank blood red
