I have a piece in this month’s Visual Verse, another flash fiction, inspired by this image.
and the bonus is that I share a double page with a poem by Kerfe.

Congratulations! I think I could have predicted that you wrote this one. π I learned a new word, “schmilblick.”
Thank you! I’m having doubts now that schmilblick is used by English-speakers. It’s maybe transited to French via German/Yiddish.
When I looked it up, it said it had been invented by a French writer, but it does sound Germany/Yiddish.
Or Alsatien dialect. The French use the expression vieux schnok to describe an unreconstructed aging conservative. That sounds Yiddishy to me too.
It does. π
And also nice that Kerfe’s in the issue, too.
It is, and on the same double page too. Coincidence? I don’t think so…
The Oracle’s influence is everywhere! π
π In Sweden they call her Greta Thunberg π
π
There are three of us in this month’s VV and I’m in excellent company!
I didn’t see yours Kim! I’ll go back and look again.
If I remember correctly, it’s on page 25.
Found it! I like it, the robot as metaphor. It’s sad but I bet we’ve all felt like that at one time or another.
Nice! I liked the twist at the end. And such a perfect match to the image. I can almost imagine those emotions on the android’s face after reading your story.
Thank you! I’m not sure I’d like the kind of people who make androids.
Not if they’re like the one in your story, no!
π
Nice work, Jane.
Thanks! I should stick to prose with VV
It depends on the prompt. You never know.
I’ll keep on doing the prompts. If my style of poetry doesn’t suit, it doesn’t matter. It’s what I get out of it that’s important.
If you see a poem as more suitable, write a poem. Same goes for prose. If they don’t like it, sb else will.
Listen to your heart.
I do. I write what I want. I know the style isn’t much in demand, so I write them just for me.
Fair enough. Instead of pleasing others, we might as well please ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to please myself AND be rich and famous π
Me, getting you wrong? That would be a dream come true.
π
Oh that’s a perfect ending.
And what a treat to be opposite yours! I’ll have to go look.
I was as pleased to see we’d been teamed up as I was to be in it!
Love it!
Congratulations, Jane! Just heading over. π Michael

Neutrality in every respect. But in the end you had a real “evil” idea. π So true, so wonderful. Michael
Robots are as heartless as we are π
I totally agree, Jane! in companion with the growing egoism we will crash our communities.
We rely too much on that one in a thousand people who is not entirely selfish to excuse what the other 999 do. And I’m being generous with the numbers.
Think so too, Jane!
Congratulations, Jane.
Humans can be so smug. Leave it to an android to deliver just rewards.
Following by example. Thanks!
This is brilliant Jane right up my street. I had an incline of the outcome as soon as the egotistical tech started speaking. I do like this sort of story.
My music is probably not to your taste but here are two of my favourite songs on this subject. Me the Machine by Imogen Heap and All is love by Bjork. Both about AI with feelings.
Love what you did with the story π
Glad you enjoyed it, Willow π I tried to keep the identity of the other ‘person’ a surprise until the end. It probably wasn’t π I’ll listen you your music though you’re right, I lost touch with popular music when I moved to France in the 1980s and French music at the time was pretty dreadful.
I really did enjoy that story it was excellent, the ending was perfect π
Thank you π
π
Sorry didn’t edit out the advert on second video but you can skip it π
I didn’t realise you could do that!
I tried posting the link in comments into google and both of them sent me to a speech to the United Nations by the president of the Philippines!
I got there through the link on the post. Didn’t get the advert though π
Excellent glad you missed advertising, was the speech any good π
I must admit I didn’t listen. It was probably in either Spanish or Filipino and I don’t speak either π
Lol
Nice..
Thank you π
Well done, as usual! π
Thank you!
