Last of August

The temperatures have been steady 95-96°F for weeks now and not a drop of rain. We’re hoping it will break tonight though we’ve missed out on all the storms recently.

summer clings

tenaciously

to this crisp-leafed

drought-cracked

dry-streamed world

South scything

no birds sing

to comfort the silent shrinking of the earth

mounds of dry grass

snake nurseries

bake

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. Lets hope! Rain in very needful here too. Even not for our construction workers, which did some vacancy at the beginning of August. Horrible, never before heared about vacancy during building a new street.

      2. Could be. Honestly i can not understand what should be wrong about immigration. We need workers, and good brainwork too.Have you heared what Trump said to Merkel at the press conference? He remembers her about German blood flooding in his vains. Lol

      3. I don’t suppose she was keen to admit any kind of kinship, even remote. It’s true that Trump is only a very recent ‘immigrant’. Didn’t he go back to Germany to dodge the draft or something?

      4. As far as I know, his grandfather wanted to return to the Palatinate as a millionaire. At that time it belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria. It is clear that the Prince Regent refused him to return, because the nobility did not like it if someone was too independent. 😉
