Second collaborative poem with the Oracle.
The air is almost blue, colour of night,
ice, ghosts and glassy waves.
Look for the red in wild flowers, turning leaves,
the flash of bird-presence among dark trees.
Listen to the blood beating to the music of life and
know that all is one, the eternal whole, the circle joined.
There can be no life without death, no joy without grief,
and at the end there is always you.
Epic Jane, epic💜
I’m glad you like it Willow. This one started off with the Oracle then I went free-wheeling at the end.
On our flight to Paris via JFK
I won’t wish you luck with the flight, just that the Gilets Jaunes decide not to protest tomorrow as well as today.
Hope not. Just landed at JFK.
So far so good.
Yes.
🙂
Landed and will head to hotel in few minutes to drop luggage. Then the adventure begins.
Don’t go to Galeries Lafayette. It’s been evacuated—protest movement.
Thanks for the update Jane. Just did a bus tour of the city today and taking a night river tour tonight. Then will decide what will do from tomorrow. Hotel is very small. Eiffel Tower less than a kilometer from the hotel.
You’ve been busy 🙂 If you can see the Eiffel tower in the distance, that’s probably about as much as you need to see 😉
😊😊😊Can see Eiffel Tower straight down the road as we come out of the hotel. Used the metro a few time. I liked the area around Moulin Rouge. Very lively. Checked out Gare du Nort for our trip to Versailles in a couple of days.
I always say that there’s not much to see at Versailles apart from the gardens which really are worth the visit. But it’s big and impressive even if the revolutionaries destroyed most of the soft furnishings 🙂
Why? Did they think those were cakes😊
They were probably cold and the kind of furniture the royals had wouldn’t fit in hovels…
😊😊😊
Simply beautiful, Jane…
Thank you 🙂
Reblogged this on anita dawes and jaye marie.
And thank you for the reblog too.
Stunning poetry , they Oracle serves you well and vice versa. Brilliant.
I’ve read a lot of your work. This ranks right up at the top. ‘the colour of ghosts,’ ‘the music of life,’ ‘always you.’
So well done
Thank you! I write two kinds of poetry, formal which needs tinkering with to get lines to scan and/or rhyme, and poetry that is written with my eyes out of focus is you see what I mean. I don’t try for clever or deep, don’t really try at all, just let the right words speak for themselves. I really am pleased you can see the picture.
Beautiful, Jane. You and the Oracle collaborate well.
I like how at the end the “always you” sort of rhymes with the almost blue of the beginning–making a circle.
I’ve noticed that the Oracle likes words like almost (at least for us). 🙂
Thank you 🙂 Random rhymes always feel like a gift.
Yes, she likes to keep things vague, with the possibility of a different outcome. No black or white with the Oracle.
No–she works in true Oracle fashion. 🙂
🙂
“the flash of bird-presence among dark trees” – among many, but my fav I think, along with “and at the end there is always you” — and don’t even know why, or much care it’s so right, made my eyes soften and smile, and so early this morning ☺️
Thank you, Felipe. That was the desired effect. Sometimes it’s just the sound of words that make up fill up, like musical chords.
I know you left a comment a week or so ago but I couldn’t find it when I got around to replying to comments. I don’t know where it got to. Sorry about that!
Oh no worries, I find it hard to keep track of myself sometimes, lol! Filled with words like musical chords, yes! 💕
WordPress only seems to keep a certain number of comments. It destroys the rest. Life’s too short to worry about that kind of stuff though 🙂
Yes 😊
The journey that is the circle. That bird presence is much needed in the turning. (K)
Those widening gyres again.
You are always finding wonderful metaphors. Love this so much.
I’m pleased you like it 🙂
