Too early frost

Nov first frost.jpg

Fading into winter mist,

frost creeping, stealing joy—

there was golden sun here once

and peace beneath the sky,

lizard-basking on hot stone.

Cold now

il gèle à pierre fendre

and the stream yells loud between its banks

where dragonflies played

their silent summer music.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. We have those too. There’s a mania for growing stuff that has no business in the south west, like olive trees, banana trees, all sorts of palms and Mediterranean pine trees. The banana trees go disgusting if the frost gets them…

  1. Oh dear–hope it’s just a brief cold snap.
The photo is lovely though. The frosted area looks like it’s dusted, but then there’s the green, so it looks like it’s a portal to a another world. 🙂
