The world seems full of mundane wickedness.
We just accept it and get on with our lives (as if our lives don’t impinge on anyone else’s).
Yes, true. And people get weary from the constant barrage, too.
Compassion fatigue is real. Frightening but true.
It is! I got so many requests on Giving Tuesday, that I was completely overwhelmed.
What’s Giving Tuesday?
Maybe it’s just a U.S. thing–there was Cyber Monday and then Giving Tuesday, when all sorts of charities and organizations were asking for money.
I see. We had the telethon which collects money for medical research into congenital diseases.
Yes, we have telethons, too. This isn’t any one thing. I think it’s a response to everyone buying stuff after our Thanksgiving, and to think about giving to charities and such instead.
If you’ve got the cash to indulge in buying stuff you don’t need, I suppose you can give a little to something worthwhile too. The consumer organisation here did a survey on the stuff sold on Black Friday and concluded that 95% of it was no cheaper than usual, often more expensive and almost always inferior quality, old model, outdated technology rubbish.
There’s so much to avert our eyes from these days. No relief in any direction. (K)
Makes you wish you were rich just to be able to do something positive.
I know–why is Michael Bloomberg spending millions of dollars on a presidential campaign when he could be building affordable housing?
He has an ego to match his millions.
