A quadrille for the dverse prompt.

we look into the depths of a pool

see fish tail-flicking,

zig-zagging among weeds

bright shards of starlight

cast into the night water

longing for home.

when the water is murky dark

bubbling up from the core

we hear the earth roar.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. As a kid I dove off a 15′ board into deep water at night. It was extremely frightening. My friends claimed I zoomed to the surface and walked on water to get to shore.

  2. For some reason I can’t help thinking about that volcano waiting to roar in the Philippines. I guess I fear another disaster. sigh..sorry for going there…but, I think it will roar.

      1. Yep. Climate change would–what do you know?–then become a thing. As if it hadn’t been before, elsewhere. Disgusting it would take this to draw attention. Indonesia’s real, urgent. Nature, people.

      1. O yes indeed. And so many are shocked when the less sparkly side rears up. I laugh when I hear of efforts to prevent cyclones, earthquakes.

  3. I’m catching up a bit. 🙂
I read this one over a few times–so simple, but so vivid. I can imagine staring at the water, and then like others have said–those last lines.
