For Colleen’s challenge, “Finding clarity”.
The irises are Monet’s.
Cloudy
the spring waters
washing down from the fields
mud-stalky turbulent swollen
with rain
only in the quiet of still
pools edged with sun yellow
we see new frogs
swimming.
Great words matching a great painting
Thank you ๐

Beautifully written indeed. Iโd never heard of this butterfly form of poetry, but I love it.
Thank you. It’s two cinquains back to back and centred: 2/4/6/8/2/8/6/4/2 syllables.
Oh thatโs so cool! Iโm pretty new to syllabic poetry.
I like this form. It’s the only syllabic form I ever use.
Like this a lot, very evocative imagery.
Thank you.
So beautiful and I don’t thnk you could have chosen a more lovely painting to go with this.
Thank you. The marsh irises aren’t in flower yet but they will be. They are magnificent flowers and the Monet does them justice.
Monet does indeed, I love Irises, one of the most loveliest of flowers and your poem does them justice!
Thank you!

we see new frogs
You make me want to believe that spring is here, not technically three weeks plus from now.
There is, or was, a blues player named Muddy Waters. I think he’d enjoy making music with words such as and sentiments from “mud-stalky” and “sun yellow.” I think he and you and Monet might get along just fine.
I know Muddy Waters, I think you’re right about affinities. I think he’d get on with the new frogs too, just watch them swim and get on with growing.
Jane, this is spectacular! “…mud-stalky turbulent swollen…” Excellent imagery. I feel your words. โค
Thank you, Colleen ๐
Oh… and I love Monet!! You have a special gift with words, Jane. โค
If I had half the gift with words that Monet had with pain, I’d be happy ๐
I love the concrete imagery in this!
Thanks so much!
You’re welcome, Jane!

“…pools edged with sun yellow…” Love this.

Jane, you never fail to amaze or delight, I enjoyed reading this one very much and appreciate the image a lot as well.
Thank you! The marsh irises aren’t in flower yet, but the Monet captures them beautifully.
