World is water

World is water falling splashing

lashing with steel whips

(drips) bough and stalk

the clouds cold wrath

frothing in over-spilling streams

gleams darkly

battleship grey they throng

songs of thunder in their hearts

(starts the drum roll)

From over-spilling eyes

skies pour an ocean to float the blue-buoyed earth

and still

birds trill and sing

fling all their hearts in open-beaked song

as long as there is a pulse to thrill the blood.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. All the rain and flooding that comes with it, inconvenient flooding or deadly. I’m reminded of winters and springs here in which from sudden thaws and rainstorms there was flooding. I mean, the creeks overflow consistently. But the rivers can be ruinous.

I hope the poem’s and your water surrender to sunlight and evaporation soon.

    1. Yes, the power of water is awe-inspiring, even at a small creek level.
Thank you, the sun is shining and we’ve been promised that yesterday’s was the last storm for a while.
