Poem in the Ekphrastic Review

The latest painting to be inspired by was this portrait by Augustus John. I hadn’t heard of the marquesa, but after reading her story, I think this is a pretty sensitive portrait.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. I agree about the portrait, and also your insightful haibun, that captures her life so well. I was pretty sure you would have something to say about this one. And pleased to be published with you, as always. (K)

    1. Hello! Good to see you back. I was pleased that so much of what I wanted to believe about her was actually visible in her portrait. Or at least the way I chose to see it.
I read yours not realising it was you and was struck by the sympathy in it. How strange we both wrote haibun and that Lorette chose to publish two.

      1. It’s true, she doesn’t often publish haibun. But she does like writing that tells a story I think. I feel like our poems are good complements to each other.
