This poem was inspired by the line from D.H. Lawrence Kim chose for the dverse prosery prompt. Not relevant, I know, but this is what I got.

They will look and see
they will look through the wrong end
and see what they think is right
the wrong end the wrong way of looking
and time will shrink but they will swell
and spin in their tiny hole in time

and he will shrink
looking back through the telescope
the right way through the wrong end
seeing what they see with borrowed eyes
seeing the wrong things
but in all their glorious swollen splendour.

She will take the telescope
and point it across the sea the night
and see moons and the stars
and smile as she takes wing into the beam
of light that stretches neither right nor wrong
across the universe bridged with sighs.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

    1. The prompt was to write a 144 word story incorporating a whole line of poetry. It’s an idea I can’t get to grips with. I’m not keen on recycling someone else’s exact words, but I’m willing to borrow an image.

    1. We get so many people slagging off other people because they don’t hold the same views, demanding that people should resign when they don’t agree with them, but they shouldn’t give in to pressure when they do. It’s the culture of me me me always right and you you you always wrong.
